The Landstar Star of Quality Award is intended for members of the Landstar network who go above and beyond in representing the freight transportation industry. Each month deserving business capacity owners and independent Landstar agents are awarded a bronze, silver, gold or platinum lapel pin recognizing their efforts and individual dedication to service. And sometimes it’s the actions members of the Landstar network take when they’re not moving freight that earns them a Landstar Star of Quality Award.
Kudos to the following BCOs for their notable efforts to help others in 2020:
Landstar BCO Daniel Morales was headed by train to pick up his truck in New Jersey when the actions he took to help another earned him the Platinum Star of Quality Award. The platinum award is given in exceptional circumstances, intended for those who are faced with a life or death situation.
According to Landstar BCO Chris Higgins, who nominated Morales for the award, “When Danny saw a person disoriented and fumbling near the train tracks, he called 911. Medical professionals soon arrived. If Danny had not witnessed this person and called for help, they might have died by the train.”
Landstar Business Capacity Owners Chawn and Sheila Pierce received a Silver Star of Quality Award nomination and praise from fellow BCO Kelly Allen after the Pierce team drivers went above and beyond to help Allen get her truck back on the road.

As Allen explains, when her truck broke down in Tennessee, she posted about the experience on Facebook, “The Pierces saw my post and drove 57 miles to get to the truck stop, picked me up, took me to Freightliner to get the parts for my truck, drove me back to the truck stop, and then fixed the truck themselves! That’s just…Wow!”
